Hello!
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything at all! But now that I’m posting again, I have decided to add a section to this website.
While my goal here on Flurries of Flour is to still focus on good food for busy people (and now busy babies!), my experiences over the past two years, to be honest, has me feeling like I need to expand this blog a bit. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, you may not know that I had a baby last June (2017). She was born six weeks early after a pregnancy that, while healthy and pretty easy, was full of anxiety. She spent time in the NICU and the next year was as full of anxiety as it was joy due to issues having to do with her prematurity and the unrelated heart condition with which she was born.
All of this while my husband was starting a new business (we hadn’t meant for him to start it at that point, but, well, life happens). Needless to say, it was a tough year.
I have always struggled with anxiety, and pregnancy hormones, a history of anxiety, and everything else that has happened means I’ve struggled mightily with it. But as with parenting and being a NICU mom, community and shared experience is always one of my greatest supports. Thus, I thought I would take this chance to hopefully provide some measure of support, information, and shared experience.
I am not an expert, I am not a practitioner, and I am not a doctor. I can’t offer expert advice or medical advice—I can only offer what I’ve learned from my experiences and what works for me.
So, I hope what you find here—about parenting, about anxiety, and about being a NICU mom—helps you in some small way.
We’re all going through this together. I’m here to remind you that you’re not alone!
Love, Samantha
