I’m Samantha Gallegos, the voice behind Flurries of Flour. I am a freelance writer, blogger, and editor by day, and a food blogger by night (in the figurative sense, anyway). I am also a wife, dog mom and auntie, supportive sister, daughter (and daughter-in-law), and aunt, friend, and traveler. Between all of that, you can imagine I’m busy—some days it feels like I go, go, go from the time I get up in the morning to the time I fall into bed at night. My husband also works long hours.
And I know I’m not the only one in that boat. Jobs, responsibilities, chores, pets, kids, fun—it all adds up!
Life is busy, and it can be difficult to cook meals at all, much less keep up your healthy eating!
That’s what Flurries of Flour is all about: delicious, healthy food for busy people!
In this blog, you will find:
- Recipes using whole ingredients
- Recipes using fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables (I do advocate for eating local and eating seasonally, though I will never stand on a soap box about it—promise!)
- Meals that are quick, simple, and easy to make
What you won’t find a lot of:
- Processed foods
- Processed sugar
- Excess sugar
Health issues from high blood pressure to digestive problems to autoimmune disorders run in my family and my husband’s family. I am no stranger to eating for health issues, so you’ll also find blogs with recipes that are allergen- and sensitivity-free foods, like dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free, and others. If the recipe itself isn’t specifically for allergy or sensitivity sufferers, you will find swaps at the end of the blog to help you make it so! You will also find paleo and other health-friendly recipes.
On the other hand, I’m a firm believer in moderation. We eat healthy probably about 80% to 90% of the time, but the other part of the time we eat food that maybe isn’t so healthy. I spent a long time denying some of my favorite comfort foods to myself, and it was miserable, so now I choose happiness!
